About Jerry Vagle...

Jerry Vagle was born on January 4, 1937, in Jackson, Minnesota to the late Carl L. and Gladys (Petersen) Vagle. He was baptized on March 7, 1937 in Union State Line Church in Petersburg, Minnesota and was later confirmed on June 11, 1950, at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Alpha. Jerry received his education in the Jackson Public Schools; graduating in the Class of 1954. In 1955, Jerry enlisted in the United States Army and served his country until being honorably discharged in 1958.

On September 5, 1964, Jerry was united in marriage to Dannielle Kauth at the Kimball Lutheran Church in Kimball Township, Jackson County, Minnesota. This marriage would be blessed with two children, Todd and Beth. After marriage the couple began farming for over thirty years with the majority of those years in the Jeffers area. In 1993, they retired from farming and moved to Windom in 1996. Jerry started working for TORO in Windom on January 25, 1990 and was forced to retire due to health reasons in November of 2007. Since retiring, Jerry had battled cancer courageously and on Saturday evening, June 14, 2008, with this family at his bedside, Jerry passed away at his home in Windom at the age of 71 years.

Jerry was a member of the American Lutheran Church in Windom where he ushered and was a former member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Jeffers where he was a head usher. Besides his faith based community, Jerry also gave back to his community as a former treasurer of the Amboy Town Board, a thirty-five year member of the Odeggard-Quade American Legion Post in Jeffers; former member of the Westbrook Golf Course Board; a former board member on the Ambulatory Care Center; and current board member of the Westbrook Mutual Insurance Company in Storden.

Jerry also had many enjoyments in life which included his love of golf; gardening, bird watching; cribbage, cards, the Minnesota Twins; and most of all, his family, especially his grandchildren, who loved their "Papa" very much.

Jerry’s grateful family includes his wife of forty-three years, Dannielle Vagle of Windom; two children, Todd and wife, Cyndy, of Holly Springs, NC; Beth Duffell of Eagan; four grandchildren, Alexia, Aaron and Andrew Vagle, and Paige Duffell; one sister, Carolyn Geesman and husband, Guy, of Jackson; one brother, Donald and wife, Deb, of Alpha; and many nieces and nephews.

Jerry is preceded in death by his parents; and one grandson, Cody.
