About Robert "Bob" W Stewart...
Mr. Robert “Bob” W. Stewart, 90, of West Burlington died at 10:53 a.m. Friday, August 27, 2010, at Great River Medical Center.Born October 1, 1919 in Burlington, he was the son of Harry E. and Florence Hunger Stewart. On July 21, 1948 he married Geneva Belle Whitacre. She preceded him in death on August 10, 2001.
Mr. Stewart was a Burlington High School graduate. He was a Navy veteran serving in World War II.
Mr. Stewart was an engineer for CBQ/Burlington Northern for 40 years, retiring in 1981. He was a member of St. Paul’s United Church of Christ, American Legion Post #52, Elks Club, Eagles Club, Aerie #150 and Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers.
Survivors include one daughter, Linda Davies of Wichita, Kansas; three sons, John Stewart of Lenexa, Kansas and David Stewart and Dale Stewart both of West Burlington; four grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
His wife, parents, and one brother Dale Stewart preceded him in death.
The memorial funeral service for Mr. Stewart will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, September 7th, in Lunning Chapel with the Rev. Dean Moberg officiating. Inurnment will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery. The Burlington Area Veterans Honor Guard will conduct military rites. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the time of service.
According to Mr. Stewart’s wishes, his body has been cremated.
